Welcome back to your friendly, neighborhood, candy store blog! We’re so happy you’re here! We thought today, we’d add another post to our super fun (or so we think), summer candy craft series. We figure that whether you’re a bored kid on summer vacation, a parent who’s looking for ideas [for your bored summer vacay kids], or an adult looking for something fun to make for yourself, or for someone else…this is the perfect idea. It’s candy-sweet, luxurious, and unique. It lasts for a long time, can be gifted, and is fabulous if you have lips recovering from a sunburn. (Please tell me I’m not the only one who has ever sunburned my lips…) Anyway, if you’re looking for the other two blogs in this series, they’re here:

We like to keep our ideas all over the place–but simple enough for all levels of crafting expertise. (And, definitely cool, and trendy, enough to gift. :) )

So, without further ado…here’s our latest creation:

Summertime S’mores Lip Scrub

This recipe is what we like to consider ‘flexible’. We’ll show you what we used, but there are a ton of ways to vary it to your tastes. Plus, you really can’t mess this one up. (We shouldn’t say that after once, witnessing a teen, try to make Easy Mac without water once. That smell…yikes.)

Here are the ingredients you’ll need: (What we used for the S’mores look/flavor/smell is what’s listed first; variations that will take it away from the S’mores theme–but still make it amazing–are listed in parenthesis.)

– 1/3 cup Sugar

– 1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil (Olive Oil)

– 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (Almond or Peppermint Extract. Or, really, any extract that you love.)

– 1/4 teaspoon Cocoa Powder (This is optional and may not mix well some other extract flavors? With vanilla, it’s amazing for look, smell, and taste.)

Here’s what to do:

First thing you need to do is mix your sugar and oil. We used a fork to do this and it worked great.

Next, add your vanilla.

Then, lightly mix in your cocoa powder. Your lip scrub will have more of a S’mores coloring if you don’t mix it all the way. It gets a little marbled looking.

Here’s what ours looked like at the end:

To use your new, awesome, lip scrub:

Scoop some of the mix up with your finger and rub it on your lips. The idea of the sugar is to exfoliate, and pull off dead skin. The coconut oil moisturizes and the vanilla and chocolate leave a lingering sweet taste and smell. After you rub it on, you can simply rinse off the sugar (or, eat it…like we maybe do…).
