Hey, Labor Day; we meet again!  Got road trip plans?  If you do–stop in before you leave for some treats to make the drive a bit more fun for everyone.  (Treating yourself to a candy bar can make the backseat chatter seem a lot less annoying :) )  Plus, we have a bunch of new candy in–did you see our last blog post about that?  I suppose that one of our next orders is going to consist of Fall favorites and maybe even a few Halloween treats already.  (Since, after all, Anoka IS the Halloween Capital of the World and, we pretty much celebrate that all October. :) )  Anyway, forget all of this talk of Labor Day and Fall for a moment, instead let us take a moment to say thanks to our most loyal customers this summer–you kids.

For all of you who biked over while playing outside, got stuck babysitting your little siblings (and/or cousins), and walked to us to kill some time and get some snacks; or, maybe you were one of the kids who came in with your parents, or grand parents, while they were out running errands–we thank you, and promise you that playing in the fresh air, and spending time with your family will always create memories, teach you good lessons, and center you a bit.  For all of you who worked hard to earn some allowance money so you could spend it on candy–we say, keep working hard and treating yourself to the little things in life that make you truly happy.  And, to you, the girl with the broken arm who was talking to your mom on your cell phone, while picking out, and paying for your candy, you were the best.  Somehow, you still managed to calculate tax, count out change, use your manners, and smile while talking to us; PLUS, you held open your own door with one working arm, and bags in hand–you, my dear, are what we wish more adults were like–polite, organized, conscientious, self-sufficient and kind.)  It won’t be the same without you all around the shop throughout the day–but, rest assured, we are open on Saturdays so you can visit us then, and we will be here next summer, as well!

We know going back to school can be tough–but, we promise it’s never as bad as you think it’s going to be, and we also promise this school year is going to fly by.  We know it can be hard though, and we remember that feeling of dread, in the pit of your stomach, quite well.  Before we go, we thought we’d share a few of our favorite going back to school comics, and memes, with you today.  We hope they make you smile a bit!  They made us smile anyway. :)

And, for you teachers…we feel your pain, too…

Edit: Sorry teachers, we had a great little comic here for you, but, the comic people didn’t like that we shared it and requested we remove it. We already forgot the name and website on the bottom of it, or we would just send you to their site to see it. In the meantime, we’ll just go ahead and recommend the book, First Day Jitters, by Julie Danneberg (in case you don’t already own a copy, that is). It is basically the comic…just the extended version. :)
